Sequence

A geometrical balance of old and new technique, the limited edition Sequence bowl combines traditional solid wall construction with innovative 3D printing technology. As the chain link pattern gravitates inwards, it becomes increasingly more flexible and adjusts to the weight and shape of the object it holds. Remove the item and its form is left imprinted briefly on the surface before the individual links absorb back into a unified whole. Capable of accommodating only a few items, it interacts intimately with its contents in a relationship that is both private and poignant.

こちらは半分の機能性と、半分は彫刻として制作された作品です。用途はボウルですが、従来の硬い樹脂と対比的に小さなかけらの集合が柔軟な表 面を可能にしました。モノを置くとその形、重さに合わせて表面が沈みます。再びモノを持ち上げると表面はゆっくりと元に戻ります。生き物のような全く新し いボウルです。デザインはサンフランシスコのOne & Coというデザインチームで、クライアントにはアップル社や、ナイキ、マイクロソフトなど一流の企業を手掛けています。

メーカーであるMaterialise .MGXは元来、医療や、自動車関係の精密部品を作成している企業です。ここで培われたノウハウと、世界をリードするコンピューターソフトウェアの使用に よって”現実と理想の架け橋になる”をコンセプトにインテリア部門を立ち上げました。特徴は文章をインクジェットプリンターが紙に印刷するように、3Dグ ラフィックを実際に具現化できるという点です。そこに有名デザイナーを招いて自由度を与え、超未来的で、複雑な立体作品を制作しています。ベルギー発、大 注目のデザインレーベルです。
