Because of its inverted design, when Unbrella is closed the dry side faces out, and the wet side in, keeping you and the people around you from getting wet.
It also opens and closes apex down, making getting into and out of a car (or closed space) much easier and shielding you from the rain longer. Lastly, when not in use it stands up stylishly on its own.
